Several area divers from the international level to the club level had top finishes last weekend.

United States diver David Boudia competed at the FINA Grand Prix Spring Swallows meet in Electrosol, Russia while divers from Noblesville-based Starz Diving competed at a regional meet in Denver.

Noblesville's Boudia helped the USA National team compete against the strong China and Russia teams as he placed in the 3-meter and the 3-meter synchronized event. Russia and China each finished with four medals apiece.

Boudia finished in sixth place in the 3-meter with a score of 328.45. Russia's Dmitry Sautin won gold in the event.

In the men's 3-meter synchronized event Boudia paired with USA teammate Justin Wilcock with 347.43 points, which was good for a seventh place. China's Shaoyun Tang and Kai Qui won the event with a score of 429.42.

Boudia competes with the USA National team in the Communidad de Madrid in Spain on March 16-19.

While Boudia fared well against the upper echelon of competition, two other Noblesville divers did well against the best in their age divisions.

Katie Bittner and Meghan Potee, members of the Starz Diving team based in Noblesville, had top finishes at the US Junior Diving Regional Championships in Denver.

Bittner placed third in the 1-meter in the 12-13 age girls division and placed seventh in the three meter competition.

Potee finished second in the 1-meter competition and fifth in the 3-meter in the girls' 14-15 age group.

“The girls put in amazing performances against some of the best divers in the country,” said Coach Cory Yeager.

Because of their top six finishes, Potee and Bittner travel to Minneapolis, Minnesota April 28-30 for the Junior West National USA Diving Championships.

Other Noblesville Starz divers to place included Krissy Riley Pendleton with a fifth place in the three meter. She did not compete in the one meter due to a back injury. Natalie Winings of Brownsburg placed twentieth on the three meter and eighteenth on the one meter.

Yeager said his Noblesville divers have earned something more than top finishes.

“As a result of their tireless hard work Bittner and Potee have earned the respect and recognition from the US Junior Diving community throughout the country,” said Yeager.
