QiongJie Huang, “Ajie†- comes to Indianapolis!

The Starz Springboard and Platform Diving Club is excited to present our new Starz Diving Coach, QiongJie Huang, “Ajieâ€. Ajie will solicit, evaluate and teach preschool and school age divers for the Starz Diving Club at the IU Natatorium on the IUPUI Campus, Indianapolis.
Huang was born in Wen Zhou in the Zhe Jiang Province of China and came to the United States to pusue diving and a college degree at the University of Hawaii in 2004. Ajie moved to Indianapolis after graduating this past December from UH with a degree in Travel Industry Management.
Due to her unique background, Ajie will be able to offer diving instruction in Chinese or English, for Chinese or American children who would like to learn more of either language. Language skills being reinforced while learning the great athletic skills involved in the sport of diving.
QiongJie (Ajie) Huang was one of the University of Hawaii’s most decorated athletes. She was the 2005 NCAA Division I Champion in the 1-meter event. Huang earned a total of eight All American awards on the basis of her finishes at the Women's NCAA Championships. She was named Western Athletic Conference Diver of the Year twice and helped lead The University of Hawaii’s Rainbow Wahine to their first-ever WAC Swimming and Diving Team Championship. The Hawaii diving team was also the top scoring diving team at the Women's NCAA Championships in 2006, due much to the contribution of points earned by Ajie.
"Her development as a world-class diver through various diving programs in China along with her exposure to many aspects of American diving will form a strong basis for her duties in Indianapolis," said UH diving coach Mike Brown. This should be a great opportunity for Ajie to develop and grow as a young coach.
Huang is not a stranger to coaching, working during the summers with the UH Aqua Camp and assisting with the Sunshine Diving Program, a developmental diving program for the local Honolulu community. Huang's duties in Indianapolis, will include assisting with the Elite Rising Starz Program, heading a developmental program for young divers and assisting with the IUPUI summer diving camp. All lessons and programs are offered at the IU Natatorium on the IUPUI Campus, Indianapolis.
Ajie will be offering lessons on Monday and Wednesday evenings with additional special classes to be offered on Sundays for Chinese School participants at various locations.
