Local Divers Qualify for Junior Olympic National Championships
Written By: Staff

(Indianapolis) The Starz Diving Club and Indianapolis Regional Training Center qualified 25 divers in 24 events for the Junior Olympic National Championships which will be held from April 29 – May 1. The Starz team split between two regionals, and as a team, finished 1st at the St. Louis, MO regional, 2nd at the Oxford, OH regional, behind the reigning national champions, US Elite. “This is one of our best regional performances ever, and has positioned us very well for the national championships,” said Sean McCarthy, Director of Satellite Programs for the Starz. “We believe our system had been producing quality athletic performances at a remarkable rate for years – and statistics are starting to support this notion as we begin to produce the country’s greatest divers on a national and international scale.” Starz divers Thomas Finchum, David Boudia and Phillip Jones are currently members of the US Diving National Team which competed in Russia and Spain this month, and will travel to China in April.
